🇮🇳 OG Stories #1: “Bullet-Proof Heart”
Tales of the Olive-Green Uniform
The Olive-Green (OG) soldier’s dress—
it isn’t just a shade of green.
It is the emblem of the Indian Army,
a living creed—
a symbol of unity, love, honor, discipline, grit, and faith.
A song of patriotism,
a poem written in duty.
Come, let us bathe in the shimmering fountain of its majesty—
let us thrill to its radiance.
Here you will find pain and laughter,
camaraderie and love…
the wonder of a mother’s embrace,
the pride of serving the nation,
the mark of sacrifice—
all woven into these OG stories.
1. “Bullet-Proof Heart”
Rajasthan’s border—
a blistering summer day touching 50 °C.
Training had barely ended,
and the call of the frontier was already waiting.
“Sir, you gave us bullet-proof jackets,”
a young soldier chuckled to his buddy,
“but what do we strap over this heart?”
Their platoon was on patrol—
first task, first day.
Tension climbed with the temperature;
under that furnace-like sun no one was spared—
officer, sepoy, camel, or lone sentry.
The radio stayed silent,
but the order was clear:
“Wait, watch, and when the moment comes,
strike like lightning.”
A bullet shows no partiality—
friend and foe are equal to its sting.
Then—an IED thundered.
Hot dust spattered with blood leapt skyward.
The rifle that had trembled a second before
snapped into action as we roared:
“In the Motherland’s defence
tears of pain stand second—
first place forever belongs
to destroying the enemy!”
We lost many that day,
yet our pride, honor, and selflessness
triumphed over everything.
Everyone learned a truth:
The jacket may be bullet-proof,
but the heart inside an olive-green uniform…
is bomb-proof.
“It isn’t in loud slogans, Sir—
it lives in the eyes of a soldier
who stands tall through pain,
in the heart of an Indian warrior
who lifts his chest with duty-bound pride.”
Jai Hind!
